Falcons complete series sweep of Beavers

Behind another strong start from sophomore lefty Skylar Wells, the Folsom Lake baseball team completed their 3-game series sweep of American River with an 8-2 win on Saturday afternoon at 'the Lake.'  Wells shut out the Beavers on one hit over five innings to earn his fifth win of the season against no losses while dropping his ERA to a sparkling 1.50.  Offensively, the Falcons got two hits from leftfielder Cole Tremain, including a solo home run to straightaway center field in the second inning that give the Falcons a lead they would never relinquish.  Logan Sutter and Chad Leonard hit back-to-back 2-run doubles in the fifth inning to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead.  Then in the seventh, Leonard added an RBI single and Drake Digiorno hit a 2-run double to make it 8-2.  The Falcons' bullpen continued to shut down the Beavers after Wells left, with Ryan Ward, Jackson Torseyand JJ Coates covering the final four innings.

The win was the Falcons' 13th without a loss dating back to February 10.  They'll take their 15-2-1 record (3-0 in Big 8) to Santa Rosa (13-6, 3-3 in Big 8) for a 2:30 game on Tuesday.
