Falcons hammer Marin for 16 runs

The Folsom Lake baseball team resumed their relentless attack on opposing pitchers on Friday night with a 12-hit barrage against College of Marin at Falcon Field.  The result was another lopsided win, 16-7 over the Mariners.  It was the 8th time in the season's first 15 games that the Falcons scored in double digits.

The Falcons sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning, resulting in 7 runs, highlighted by Jared Breedwell's 2-run triple.  With two more runs in the 2nd, three in the 4th, and three more in the 6th, the Falcons built a 15-1 lead after six innings.  Meanwhile, lefty starter Skylar Wells was breezing along, shutting out the Mariners on 3 hits while striking out 9 batters in 5 innings to pick up the victory.  Breedwell finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI, while Bryce Petrilla added a pair of doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

The Falcons (12-2-1 in non-conference play) will their open Big 8 Conference schedule this coming week against American River (9-8 overall, 1-2 in Big 8) with home games on Tuesday and Saturday and one at ARC on Thursday.
