Falcon bats carry team to 14-9 win over Contra Costa

The Folsom Lake baseball team unleashed another relentless offensive attack on Saturday that resulted in 14 runs on 13 hits in their 14-9 win over Contra Costa at FLC.  The Falcons raised their team batting average to .334 - third highest in California - while maintaining the top slugging percentage in the state at .527.  Five players recorded multi-hit games on saturday, led by shortstop Drake Digiorno with a home run and 3 RBI.  Centerfielder Chris Catalano was 3-for-4 with a double, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored, and the potent infield combo of JT Waldon and Logan Sutter totalled 4 hits and 5 RBI.

Whie the Falcon bats have been red hot, the pitching remains a question mark.  On Saturday, sophomore ace Skylar Wells went four innings but allowed three runs on four walks and four hits.  The bullpen was even more questionable, allowing six runs on eight hits and six walks over the final five innings.  But with the offense rolling like it has, the pitching has been good enough to win games.  Saturday's win was the Falcons' eighth straight game without a loss (there was one tie) dating back to February 10. This week, the Falcons will host Yuba on Tuesday evening, then play a rematch in Marysville on Thursday.
