Waldon's 2 home runs, 6 RBI not enough as darkness forces 11-inning tie

Folsom Lake freshman first baseman JT Waldon hit two home runs - including a sixth-inning grand slam - at Mendocino on Wednesday, but the Falcons had to settle for an 11-11 tie when darkness halted play after 11 innings.  The Falcons trailed 8-4 after five innings, but a 6-run sixth - fueled by Waldon's slam - gave them a lead that they ultimately couldn't hold.  Mendocino, trailing 11-9 in the 9th inning, rallied with two hits and took advantage of two passed balls to tie the game and send it to extra innings.  The teams managed to play two more innings before the game was called with the score tied at 11.

Besides Waldon's big day, Jared Breedwell had two doubles and a single, Khale Good had a double, two walks, and scored twice, and Chad Leonard added two hits and scored twice.  The only Falcon pitcher to escape unscathed was Jackson Torsey, who blanked the Eagles in the 7th and 8th innings.

The Falcons will travel to Contra Costa on Friday, then play the Comets at home on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
