Falcon bats erupt for 10-run 7th in opening-night win
The Falcons opened their season with a three-game weekend series at home against Taft College, winning the first two comfortably before a ninth-inning stumble in Sunday's finale prevented them from completing a sweep. Still, the results were positive as the Falcons demonstrated pitching depth and solid hitting.
In Friday night's opener, Falcon starter Gavin Ochoa kept the Cougars in check and left with a 3-2 lead after four innings. Three Falcon relievers followed suit and maintained a slight lead until the Falcon bats erupted for 10 runs in the seventh inning on their way to a 16-4 win. Sophomore second baseman Khale Good had four hits and an RBI, Bryce Petrilla had two hits - including a home run - and shortstop Drake Digiorno capped the seventh inning rally with a grand slam.
