The Falcons opened their three-game weekend series against Gavilan College with a Friday night shutout win over the Rams, 2-0 at Falcon Field. Falcon starter Derek Stuber (six innings, 0 runs, 1 hit) and reliever Shane Gustafson (3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit) combined to blank the Rams with 13 strikeouts. Converted shortstop (formerly 3b) Josh Winkler provided all the offense the Falcons would need with his solo home run to left-center in the sixth inning. The Falcons added one unearned run in the seventh on a walk, two hit batters, and a wild pickoff throw that scored John Mook from third with an insurance run.
