Baseball Win Streak Reaches Five

After playing 14 innings at College of Marin on Tuesday without determining a winner, FLC and Marin took the field on Wednesday afternoon to complete that game, then play another that was postponed from Saturday.  The Falcons promptly scored two runs in the top of the 15th inning, then closer Zach Reid shut down the Mariners in their half of the inning to close out the longest game in FLC history, 6-4.

In game 2, first baseman Nick Schumacher was the offensive star has he drove in four runs with a double and his fourth home run of the season, giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead after three innings.  That lead would vanish in the eighth inning as the Mariners scored one in the sixth, another in the seventh, and two more in the eighth to take a 5-4 lead.  But Schumacher led off the Falcons' half of the eighth by getting hit by a pitch, setting the stage for third baseman Kale Leach.  With two strikes, Leach crushed the next pitch for a two-run home run and a 6-5 lead.  Zach Reid then pitched around a two-out Mariners' double in the ninth to earn the win, the Falcons' fifth straight.  The Falcons also improved their early-season BVC record to 4-0.
