Falcons Baseball Sweep Weekend

Falcons Baseball Sweep Weekend

The Falcons played a two-game series against Butte College over the weekend, with Friday's game played at Butte and Saturday's game at Falcon Field.  On Friday, the Falcons were led by second baseman Austin Wailes' big day at the plate as they cruised to a 14-9 win.  Wailes went 4 for 6 with two homers, a double, 4 RBI's, and 3 runs scored.  Leftfielder Blake Rivera had 3 hits and 3 RBI's, while catcher Josh Criswell had 3 RBI's and scored 2 runs.

On Saturday, the Falcons rode the strong right arm of starting pitcher Andrew Schantz to a 7-2 victory.  Schantz went 5 complete innings, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out 4 batters.  Offensively, the Falcons were led by right fielder Tyler Kaim, who had a key 2-run double in the 7th inning that broke open a tight game.

The Falcons took an early lead with 3 runs in the 3rd on a sacrifice fly by Kaim and a 2 run double by Noah Revis-French.  Those were really all the runs that Schantz would need as he kept the Roadrunners' bats quiet all night.

The Falcons now find themselves with a 3-0 record and will host Sierra College on Wednesday at 5 pm.
