Folsom Lake College Women's Beach Volleyball Faces Tough Losses Against De Anza and Lassen College
The Folsom Lake College women's beach volleyball team faced a challenging weekend on the sand, as they went up against De Anza College and Lassen College, suffering defeats in both matches.
De Anza College: A Narrow 4-1 Loss
The match against De Anza College started with a tight contest in the #1 pair. Folsom Lake's McKecknie and Pham battled hard against De Anza's Alper and Barnhart, narrowly losing in a thrilling three-set match, 21-15, 27-29, 15-10. Despite their best efforts to rally in the second set, the duo couldn't finish strong, handing De Anza the first point.
In the #2 pair, Folsom Lake's Boldryeva and Jones were determined not to let the momentum slip away. After dropping the first set 19-21, they made an impressive comeback, winning the next two sets 21-15, 17-15, and securing a crucial point for Folsom Lake.
The #3 pair saw Folsom Lake's Ayers and Williams fall short in a hard-fought match against De Anza's Frausto and Sugrue. They won the second set 23-21 but couldn't maintain the pressure in the final set, losing 15-8.
Folsom Lake struggled with forfeits in the #4 and #5 pairs. The FLC team had to forfeit both matches, leading to a 21-0, 21-0 loss in each.
Lassen College: Another 4-1 Defeat
The team's second match of the weekend saw them face Lassen College, and once again, Folsom Lake College came up short in a 4-1 loss.
In the #1 pair, Folsom Lake's McKecknie and Pham went up against Chandler and Elerick from Lassen College. Despite taking the second set 8-21, they lost the match in a tight final set, 21-18, finishing with a scoreline of 23-21, 8-21, 21-18.
The team found success in the #2 pair, as Boldryeva and Jones defeated Lassen's Halverson and Moore 21-14, 21-14, continuing their strong performance from the De Anza match.
However, Folsom Lake's Ayers and Williams couldn't capture a win in the #3 pair, losing to Lassen's McElhaney and Platz 21-18, 21-18, 15-10.
Once again, the #4 and #5 pairs faced forfeits, resulting in 21-0, 21-0 losses for both.
Looking Ahead
Despite the losses, Folsom Lake College demonstrated resilience throughout the weekend, especially in the #2 pair, where Boldryeva and Jones secured a win against both De Anza and Lassen. The team is looking forward to improving their lineup and strengthening their game in preparation for upcoming matches.
