Feather River has too much firepower, sweep Falcons in 3 sets

In the Falcons' second match, the state's number one ranked team demonstrated why they're deserving of such a lofty perch with a straight-set victory (25-19, 25-16, 25-13) over the Falcons on Friday afternoon in the closing match of the Folsom Lake Classic Tournament.  The Feather River Golden Eagles improved their season record to 14-1 with their 12th consecutive victory and left little doubt who the tournament's top team was.

The Falcons gave the Golden Eagles a good run early on and even held a six-point lead midway through through the first set.  The Eagles didn't panic, however, and put together a late run that clinched the set.  The Falcons kept fighting and pstarted strong in the second set, but once again the Golden Eagles had too many weapons and pulled away late.  The third set was again a repeat with the Falcons holding a narrow lead early on before Feather River took control.  The Golden Eagles went home with straight-set victories over both West Valley and Folsom Lake and a sparkling early-season record of 14-1.

The Falcons (5-4) will open Big 8 Conference play on Wednesday against Sacramento City at FLC at 6:30 pm.
