2017 Women's Tennis Season Preview

2017 Women's Tennis Season Preview

After finishing second in the Big 8 standings in 2016, the Falcons have lofty goals as they approach the 2017 season.  Gone are the Falcons' top two players from last year, but head coach Craig Perez has a bevy of newcomers and a solid crew of returnees to rely on.  Sophomore sisters Anjelica and Arielle Frank return after playing at # 3 and 4, respectively, and earning All-Conference status last year.  Both qualified for the state tournament in Ojai and bring a wealth of experience.  Also returning is Michelle Doyle, who played at # 5 in 2016 and also played in the state tournament.

New freshmen Abriana Rowe and Erin Cline, both from Granite Bay HS, played well during the Fall and are ranked # 10 and 20, respectively, in Northern California and will likely play as doubles partners.  Also new to FLC tennis and hoping to crack the top six this spring are Nicole Chumpitaz (Deming, New Mexico), Laura Parkyn (Ponderosa HS), and Ella Zagorenko (Vista del Lago HS).   The team enters the spring season with an impressive #2 ranking in northern California and a chance for their first-ever Big 8 Conference title.  This is a team to watch!
