Hawks hold off Falcons, 2-1

Hawks hold off Falcons, 2-1

Despite being no-hit for 6-1/3 innings, the Folsom Lake softball team gave Big 8 leader CRC a scare on Tuesday afternoon but came up a run short, falling 2-1 to the Hawks at Falcon Diamond.  The Falcons put themselves in a hole early by gifting the Hawks two first-inning runs on two fielding errors.  Adriana Gonzalez then took over the pitching duties for the Falcons and blanked the Hawks the rest of the way, but the Hawks made those two runs stand up.  CRC's starter Ashley Toy didn't allow a Falcon hit until Sydnee Verlin's one-out triple in the seventh inning.   Hayley Reginato followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center field, a shot that nearly tied the game.  Toy then retired Mikaela Pamplona for the final out to preserve the Hawks' victory.
