2017 Softball Season Preview

Season two of Folsom Lake College softball will open next week when the Falcons take the field against San Jose City on Tuesday afternoon in San Jose.  New full-time head coach Jenna Alexander brings a wealth of softball knowledge and experience as she lays the foundation for a successful program.  The Falcons have but two returning players from last year's inaugural season team (which went 8-30 overall) and one sophomore transfer.  Sophomore Abbie Strickland, who batted .286 and was 2nd on the team with 21 runs scored in '16, will see time at catcher and in the infield.  Also returning is sophomore outfielder Mia Matista, who played a variety of positions in 2016.  Transfer Mickaela Robertson (CRC) will be a fixture in the Falcons' outfield in 2017.  Key freshmen for the Falcons in 2017 include two pitchers from Ponderosa High School, righthander McKenna Rickles and lefty Lauren Orris.

The Falcons will play 19 home games on 13 dates (6 double headers) in 2017, starting with games against Yuba at 1:00 pm and Redwoods at 5:00 pm next Thursday, February 2.
