Softball loses to Sierra

The steadily-improving FLC softball team gave visiting Big 8 powerhouse Sierra College a bit of a scare on Thursday night before eventually falling to the Wolverines 15-5.  The Falcons led early on Bree Martinez' first inning home run, 1-0.  That lead didn't last, though, as the Wolverines scored three runs in the second inning.  The Falcons kept coming back, closing the gap to one run twice (at 4-3 after three innings and 6-5 after four innings).  But that was as close as they'd get, as the Wolverines' potent offense kicked into high gear in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring four and five runs respectively and extinguishing any hopes of an upset.

The Falcons have one more non-conference game (at Delta on Tuesday) before starting their Bay Valley Conference schedule at Napa on Thursday.
