Softball loses a 6-5 heartbreaker at Modesto

The Falcons nearly snagged their first victory of the inaugural season on Tuesday afternoon in Modesto, only to be disappointed again as the Pirates rallied in the final inning to take the 6-5 win.  The Falcons took an early 2-0 lead that they held until Modesto scored three in the bottom of the fourth.  Undaunted, the Falcons battled back with two runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth for a 5-3 lead.  The lead would last until there were two outs in the seventh, when Modesto rallied for three runs to win the game in dramatic fashion.  Anna Ydiarte pitched all seven innings and scored two runs for the Falcons, while Bree Martinez collected three of the Falcons' five hits along with an RBI.
