Falcon men fall at Modesto

Following a huge upset win over Cosumnes River on Tuesday, perhaps a letdown was expected.  Unfortunately for the FLC men's soccer team, that letdown came on Friday when they lost at Modesto, 2-1.  To compound the loss, it came on a day that Big 8 leader Cosumnes River lost their second consecutive match.  A Falcon win at Modesto would have put them within one point of the Big 8 lead, but instead they dropped to third place.

The Game itself started out promising for the Falcons as freshman forward Kyle Reilly scored his team-leading 7th goal of the season just two minutes into the match.  Sadly, that would be the Falcons' only goal for the day.  The Pirates tied the score ten minutes later, then took a 2-1 lead shortly before halftime and held off the Falcon attack throughout the final 45 minutes of play.

With the loss, the Falcons dropped to 6-7-4 overall and 3-2-3 in Big 8 play.  They'll need some positive results in their final two regular-season games this week if they hope to reach the CCCAA playoffs.  They will host Santa Rosa (8-2-7 overall, 3-0-5 and 2nd place in Big 8) on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm, then finish against American River on Friday at FLC at 6:00 pm.
