Falcons hang on for 2-1 win over CRC

With Los Rios rival Cosumnes River visiting Falcon Stadium for a Friday night match under the lights, the Falcons were visibly amped up to play the Hawks.  Unlike their encounter with Santa Rosa early in the week when they allowed a goal in the first two minutes, the Falcons were the aggressors early on and scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute.  Sophomore forward Kameron Kascht put the Falcons ahead early with his team-leading 6th goal of the season, set up by a pass from Freddie Allen.  Then midway through the first half freshman Andres Maldonado-Conejo added to the Falcon lead with a goal assisted by Adrian Jiminez.  The Falcons were clearly controlling the match at this point, though it was far from over.

The second half was evenly played with both teams building their attacks, but neither finding scoring success until the Hawks scored in the 85th minute, making it 2-1.  Following that goal, the final minutes were played at a frenetic pace with CRC desperately seeking the tying goal and the Falcons sending any loose ball far downfield.  When the whistle sounded ending the match, the Falcons were clearly stoked to have defeated their rival, improving to 7-1-3 overall and 2-1 in Big 8 play.

Two difficult matches await the Falcon men this week as they play at American River (7-2-1 overall, 1-1-1 in Big 8) on Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm, then travel again on Friday afternoon to Stockton to play Delta at 4:00 pm.
