Golfers record worst team score ever….and WIN

It may have been ugly, but it was a win.  Monday's Big 8 tournament #7 at Fountain Grove Golf Club in Santa Rosa turned into a struggle for survival as just four of the 30 total golfers managed to shoot less than 82 on the par-72 course.  With numerous water hazards, tricky out-of-bounds, and blind tee shots, the course was a mine field but the Falcons managed to put together a team score of 428, which was good enough to win by 2 strokes over Santa Rosa.  With Sierra finishing in fourth with 449, Folsom Lake reclaimed first place in the Big 8 standings.  "We dodged a bullet today," noted head coach Barry Zarecky.  "As ugly as it was, we'll take the win.  It's nice to be back in first place."  The Falcons will attempt to remain in first place as they play today (Wednesday) at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course in nearby Carmichael.
