Turnovers Too Much to Overcome in 58-52 Loss to DVC Vikings

Folsom, CA – The Falcons (4-11, 0-3 Big-8) suffer another single-digit loss, 58-52, in their third conference game of the season. Defensively, FLC held DVC (9-2, 2-0 Big-8) to 28 points in the first half, but turnovers and offensive struggles resulted in only 22 points of their own.

The Vikings, led by freshman guard, Yatyn Anderson (16 pts.) and freshman guard, Ben Tellez (12 pts.), began pulling away in the middle of the second half, at one point finding themselves up by 12 points. The Falcons stayed in the game and made a late-game run to get within six (6) points of the Vikings, but the turnovers where too much to overcome as the Vikings won their second conference game and stayed undefeated and in first place in the Big-8 Conference standings. "Overall, the defensive effort was there, we just have to take care of the ball," said Head Coach, Bill Benford, in reference to FLC's 26 turnovers.

The Falcons were led in scoring by sophomore guard, Donovan Cokley with 13 points and sophomore guard, Philip Polezhako, led the team in rebounding with 2 offensive and 6 defensive rebounds.

The Falcons will now host Cosumnes River College (8-7, 2-1 Big-8) on Friday, January 6th at 5:30 pm for their first game of 2023.
