Falcons open season with win over Napa Valley, loss to Redwoods

Despite an opening-game sluggish start - attributed to first-game jitters - the FLC men's basketball team warmed up quickly and led wire-to-wire in their 76-68 victory over Napa Valley in the NVC Tournament on Friday evening.  Once the Falcons found their rhythm, they played like a seasoned team.  Sophomore Dane Johnson had a huge night scoring 30 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and adding 7 blocked shots.  Behind him, freshman Te'And Indalecio had 15 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.  Freshman Tyson Hazel played 31 minutes and, although his stat line doesn't show it, was a big factor with his effort and defensive presence.

All in all, a good opening game and great way to start the 2022-23 season!

Falcons lose to Redwoods at Napa Tournament

The Falcons' second game of the season didn't end with the same result as their first, but the the game itself was much closer than the final 81-67 score would indicate.  Folsom Lake and College of the Redwoods played a back-and-forth game that saw neither team get a lead larger than four points until the final three minutes.  The Falcons, in fact, led by one with five minutes to play, then fell behind and were forced to foul over the final two minutes.  The Corsairs capitalized by hitting 75% of their free throws to clinch the victory.

Freshman Tyson Hazel hit 4-of-6 three-pointers for 14 points while sophomore Dane Johnson had a team-high 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocks.  The Falcons now have a week to prep for their next opponent; they'll play at College of Marin on Saturday Nov 12 at 3:00 pm
