Falcons lose at Sierra

The Falcons visited Sierra on Saturday afternoon in the deciding game of their three-game series, but fell to the Wolverines 11-4.  The Falcons dug themselves a hole early when starter Cody Lindsey couldn't get out of the first inning, allowing the first four batters to reach base and eventually score.  Freshman Landon Mitchell came on in relief and kept the Wolverines in check with three-plus innings of work, but the Falcons' offense never got going as they managed just six hits in the game.  Still, they closed the gap to 5-3 before Sierra put up six runs in the seventh and eighth innings to break open a close game.  The loss drops the Falcons to 1-5 in Big 8 Conference play and 9-12 overall.  They'll face defending state champion Santa Rosa three times this week, with home games on Tuesday (2:30 pm) and Saturday (1:00 pm).
