Falcons lose Big 8 opener to Sac City

The Falcons opened their Big 8 Conference schedule by hosting Sacramento City College under the lights on Tuesday night, but couldn't get the bats going as they fell to the Panthers, 7-2.  What had been a hot-hitting FLC squad managed just three hits off Panther lefty Isaiah Nunez, who pitched seven strong innings to earn the win.  On the bright side, the Falcons displayed some sparkling defensive plays, highlighted by third baseman Josh Winkler's leaping stab of a line drive and shortstop Nicola Mislinski's over-the-shoulder snag of a fly ball in shallow left field.  The Falcons, who dropped to 8-7 for the season, will face Sac City on Thursday night in Sacramento before winding up the three-game series at FLC on Saturday afternoon.
