Falcons flip the script, come from 2 sets down to defeat CRC

The Folsom Lake women's volleyball team, fresh off their collosal collapse at Santa Rosa, completely flipped the script on Friday night against Cosumnes River as they lost the first two sets (20-25, 23-25) and were on the verge of getting swept before turning it around to win the final three sets (25-19, 25-18, 15-8) over the Hawks.  It was a huge turnaround and important victory for the Falcons, who remain in the thick of the Big 8 title race tied for second with American River at 6-2.

The Falcons, perhaps still feeling the hangover effects from the Santa Rosa loss, were not playing their best volleyball early in the match.  There were glimpses of their recent brilliance, but the Hawks for the most part were outplaying the Falcons. Down two sets and with their backs to the wall, the Falcons finally put it together with a solid third set.  In the fourth set, however, the Hawks took an early 10-4 lead and appeared to be headed for victory.  But a stunning rally, including 7 straight points, put the Falcons ahead and they evened the match at two sets each.  The final set started with an 8-1 run by the Falcons and they held on for the 15-8 win.

The Falcons (13-6 overall, 6-2 in Big 8) have a break on Wednesday, but will resume play on Friday as they open the second half of the Big 8 schedule at Sacramento City (12-9 overall, 1-7 in Big 8) at 6:30 pm.
