Falcons win 5-set match over Sequoias, lose in 5 to Solano

The Falcons made the trip west on I-80 to play in the Solano College Tournament on Wednesday evening and ended up playing TWO 5-set matches back-to-back.  The first faced College of the Sequoias and had to battle back from a 2-1 deficit to win the final two sets and the match:  25-21,13-25, 17-25, 25-17, 15-9.  Freshmen Lexi Berry and Abby Seabury came up huge while taking on the tough assignment of blocking Sequoia's 6-foot outside hitter.  Sophomore setter Kendall Hughes again proved her worth with her court coverage and unerring play.

In the tournament finale, the visiting Falcons fell to host Solano in another 5-set match, 11-25, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24, 13-15.  After having just completed a 2-1/2 hour marathon, the Falcons relied on their bench to give the starters a break, except for Kendall Hughes, who played all 10 sets without ever taking a break!  In the end, the Falcons came up just short when they lost the final two points of the deciding set, 15-13.
