Falcon women shut out Santa Rosa to remain undefeated

The Folsom Lake women's soccer team continued their magical run through 2022 with yet another win on Friday afternoon, shutting out Santa Rosa 3-0.  The Falcons (9-0-2) are now one of just two remaining teams in the state without a loss, the other being Chaffey (also 9-0-2) in southern California.

The Falcons took control early in Santa Rosa with two first-half goals; sophomore forward Annette Medina got things started with her 5th goal of the season in the fifth minute of play, then freshman Klaire Horton added scored her team-leading 7th goal of the season midway through the half, assisted by Tiayiza Arredondo.  Sophomore midfielder Luci Gulbransen made her 2022 debut - she's been rehabbing a season-long injury - an impactful one with a goal in the 65th minute while Avery Pieri got the assist (her 4th).  While the offense usually gets the headlines, it's often the defense that wins games.  Head coach Donny Ribaudo gave props to defenders Kaidin James and Kaitlin Scoggins and midfielder Addisyn Barnumwho all contributed solid defense against the Bear Cubs.  Sophomore goalkeeper Grace Filliau had 5 saves while recording her third shutout of the season.

The Falcons, now 3-0 in Big 8 Conference play, will host Cosumnes River (7-4-4 overall, 2-1-1 in Big 8) on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
