Falcons survive heat AND Clovis, 3-2

With scorching hot weather (105) forecast for their Friday afternoon gametime, the FLC vs. Clovis women's soccer match was played earlier in the day to avoid the triple digits.  Despite the change, the on-field field temperature was still near 100* when the Falcons walked off the pitch with a tense 3-2 victory.

The Falcons took an early lead when they stunned the Crush with a goal by Annette Medina in the first minute of play.  They added to their lead on a Clovis miscue that was scored as an 'own goal' to go ahead 2-0.  At that point, the Falcons perhaps got too comfortable with their two-goal lead and got a bit lazy defensively.  Clovis capitalized with two goals of their own before halftime to tie the score at 2-2.  The Falcons then got back to work in the second half and created several scoring chances before Nyah Attaway served a corner kick to Leila Chaudhry, who punched it in for the game winner at the 75 minute mark.

The Falcons improved their early-season record to 2-0-1 and will hope to build on that this Friday when they play at West Hills-Lemoore (0-1).
