Falcons Soar to Historic Victory, Advance to 3C2A Basketball State Championship

Folsom-In a thrilling clash of titans, the number 4 seed in Northern California, Folsom Lake College Falcons, hosted the number 5 seed, City College of San Francisco Rams. The intensity of the match echoed through Falcons' gymnasium as the Falcons battled their way to a historic victory, securing a spot in the 3C2A Basketball State Championship for the first time in program history.

The showdown began with both teams displaying grit and determination, but it was the Falcons who emerged victorious with a final score of 60-56, showcasing their prowess on the court. Folsom Lake's Women's Basketball team demonstrated a stellar performance, with key players making significant contributions to the team's success.

The individual player statistics tell a tale of skill and determination:

Alysa Lopez: 21 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist

Corrie Harrison: 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist

Emily Ko: 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists

Ashleigh Briggs: 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals

Jadyn Weaver: 2 points, 3 rebounds

The Falcons' bench also played a crucial role, with Gianna Darte, Khalilah Corley, and Livi Fernandez contributing to the team's success.

As the final buzzer sounded, Folsom Lake College celebrated a historic triumph, securing their place in the 3C2A Women's Basketball State Championship. The Falcons will join three other teams from Northern California and four teams from the Southern California region in an intense, single-elimination tournament hosted by Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.

The journey to the championship title continues for FLC, with their first game scheduled for Thursday, March 14th, against Glendale College Vaqueros at 1:00 pm. Glendale College, the number 3 seed in the Southern California Regional, boasts an impressive record of 14-0 in the Western State-South Conference. The Vaqueros advanced to the 3C2A State Championship after defeating Pasadena College and Palomar College in the playoffs, setting the stage for a thrilling matchup against the Falcons.
