Falcons Secure Second Place with a Triumph over Wolverines

Folsom -In a crucial home game that determined the second-place holder in the Big 8 Conference, the Folsom Lake College Falcons emerged victorious against the Sierra College Wolverines with a final score of 78-71. The win marked a significant turnaround from their previous encounter, where the Wolverines secured a 76-64 victory.

Both teams entered the game with an identical 11-4 conference record, setting the stage for an intense battle on the hardwood. The Falcons, determined to avenge their earlier loss, showcased resilience and grit to secure the pivotal win.

The first quarter set the tone for a closely contested matchup, with the Falcons holding a slim 20-18 lead. Sierra College, led by Katie Leeth's impressive 25-point performance, kept the game competitive throughout. However, the Falcons' balanced offensive attack, with four players scoring in double digits, proved to be the difference-maker.

Alysa Lopez led the charge for Folsom Lake, contributing 22 points and securing crucial rebounds. Emily Ko orchestrated the offense effectively, tallying 10 points and dishing out six assists. The Falcons' three-point shooting, led by Ashleigh Briggs and Livi Fernandez, played a pivotal role in stretching the lead.

The Falcons outscored the Wolverines in the third quarter, creating separation with a 24-13 run. Folsom Lake's defense, highlighted by nine steals and a disciplined effort, thwarted Sierra College's attempts to mount a comeback.

With this crucial victory, Folsom Lake secures the coveted second-place spot in the Big 8 Conference. The win not only avenges their earlier loss to Sierra College but also solidifies their standing as a formidable force heading into the postseason.
