No. 18 Women’s Basketball Plays in Championship Game of the Jocelyn Mancebo Tournament

Stockton – The No. 18 ranked, Falcons started their 2023/24 campaign in Stockton as one of the 8 teams featured in the 2023 Jocelyn Mancebo Tournament, hosted by San Joaquin Delta College.

Folsom Lake College vs Laney College

Corrie Harrison was the leading scorer for the Falcons (17 pts.) on Friday as the Falcons defeated No. 12, Laney College by a final score of 69-58. Other notable performances for the season opener included sophomore guard, Alysa Lopez, who scored 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Folsom Lake College vs College of the Sequoias

On Saturday, the Falcons faced the College of the Sequoias, who is ranked 10^th in the CCCSIA Sate preseason rankings. A fast 18-7 first quarter lead, and stout defense, resulted in a 57-52 victory for the Falcons. Once again, sophomore forward, Corrie Harrison led the Falcons in scoring with 15 points, and 12 rebounds. Alysa Lopez added 14 points, and 9 rebounds for the night. Saturday's victory in the tournament semifinals, earned the Falcons a spot in the Championship game against No. 5, and tournament host, San Joaquin Delta College on Sunday.

Once again, the Falcons were able to start fast and jumped out to 22-13 first quarter lead over the Mustangs, and by halftime, the Falcons were up by 8 points (40-32). Corrie Harrison continued her impressive start to the season, going 10-11 from the field for 22 points while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Including Harrison, three other Falcons scored in the double digits, Alysa Lopez (16), Emily Ko (12), and Jadyn Weaver (12) which helped the Falcons' lead grow to 20 points late into the third quarter.

Unfortunately, foul trouble slowed down the Falcons' offensive attack and the mustangs were able to make up the difference by scoring 28 points in the fourth quarter and take the 4-point win over the Falcons (77-73).  

The Falcons were runner up to the San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs in the 2023 Jocelyn Mancebo Tournament. Corrie Harrison and Alysa Lopez were named to the All-Tournament Team.
