Folsom Lake College Wins Fight of the Falcons
Friday, our Falcons traveled to Fairfield to play the Solano College Falcons in the last non-conference game before Big-8 play.
The Falcons had an up and down first half, outscoring Solano 32-21, all the while having an uncharacteristically high number of turnovers. With a huge spark and a couple of charges taken by Jada Holmes off the bench and a regrouping at halftime, the Falcons came out strong and put Solano away in the third, outscoring them 21-11 to take a 52-32 lead. With a strong defensive fourth quarter only allowing five points, the Falcons ran away with it and finished off Solano 71-37.
FLC had another evenly spread offensive night with all 11 Falcons putting the ball in the basket. Reya Lee led all scorers with 13 points, followed by 11 a piece by Macie Purbaugh and Megan Williams. Freshman Emily Ko had an all-around night with 8 points, a game-high 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Jessica Huffhines led all passers with a career-high 7 assists, 5 of which came in the first quarter alone!
The FLC Women's basketball program finished with two program-bests that night: a 10-2 record in non-conference games and #17 state ranking.
The Falcons begin play in the highly competitive Big 8 Conference on Tuesday, 12/20, against #6 state-ranked Santa Rosa Junior College (11-1) at home at 7:30pm. Then on Thursday travel to Stockton to take on yet another state ranked team in #10 San Joaquin Delta College (6-5) at 5:30pm.
