Falcon women open CCCAA playoffs with emphatic win!

The Folsom Lake women's basketball team, playing thier first ever home playoff game - and first game in front of live spectators in over two years - rode the wave of adrenaline to a 53-45 victory over Monterey Peninsula on Tuesday night at Falcon Gym. The #15 seeded Falcons relied heavily on post players Amani Britton and Eva Graf to create scoring opportiunities in the paint.  Britton tallied a team-high 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, primarily on spin moves and layups, while also grabbing 7 rebounds.   Graf contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds while battling under the basket, and  Reya Lee added 11 points while hitting three 3-pointers.  Point guard Macie Purbaugh, despite having an off-night shooting, provided the defensive spark that set the tone early.  Purbaugh recorded 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 steals while harassing the Lobo guards all night long.

The win advances the Falcons to Round 2 of the playoffs where they'll face a familiar foe in Big 8 rival Sierra College.  The Wolverines finished the regular season ranked #2 in the state with a record of 23-3 and earned the #2 seded in. the northern California regionals.  They'll host the Falcons at 7:00 pm on Tuesday night.
