Falcons Open 2024 Softball Season with a Win

Santa Clarita - The Folsom Lake College Falcons soared into the 2024 softball season with an impressive performance, securing a 16-9 victory over the College of the Canyons Cougars in their opening game. The Falcons, who made program history by reaching the CCCAA State Championship last year, continued their winning ways in a challenging matchup against the Cougars.

From the outset, Folsom Lake showcased their offensive firepower, scoring eight runs in the first three innings to establish an early lead. Isabella Robinson had a standout performance, contributing four runs, two hits, and two RBIs, while Jazlyn Basquez added two RBIs of her own.

The Falcons' offensive onslaught continued throughout the game, with Abigail Love, Summer Lagomarsino, and Marica Watson all making significant contributions. Abigail Love's two RBIs and Clare Yanez's patient approach at the plate further fueled Folsom Lake's scoring.

On the defensive side, Aila Lyden pitched a solid 5.2 innings, allowing five runs and striking out five. Isabella Robinson took over pitching duties to close out the game, securing the win for the Falcons.

Despite facing a resilient Canyons team, Folsom Lake's well-rounded performance and strategic base running proved to be the difference-maker. The Falcons capitalized on their opportunities, utilizing speed and precision to steal bases and put pressure on the opposing defense.
