Falcons Advance to the CCCAA Softball Super Regional

Monterey, CA – After winning the first game of the series against the #4 seed, Monterey Peninsula College, the Falcons (#13 seed) needed to win one-of-two games on Saturday, and that's exactly what they did.

Needing a win to stay alive, the Lobos scored early and played good defense to get the win in the first game on Saturday by a score of 4-1. With the series tied at 1-1, the winner of game 3 would advance in the CCCAA Softball State Championship and the loser would be eliminated.

The Falcons got to work early in the decisive third game as they scored 6 runs in the first inning. The first run came off a single by Araceli Jaimes which brought in Haylee Reginato. Itzel Montoya then hit a double, bringing in Emma Gaytan and Isabella Savala. With loaded bases, Elizabeth Wylie, Adriana Vasquez, and Haylee Reginato each drew a walk to bring in the 4th, 5th, and 6th runs.

After giving up one run in the 2nd inning, Falcon's Head Coach, Amber Grahlman, turned to Marissa Alders who finished out the game in the circle, and only allowed four hits and no runs in 6 innings.

The Falcons advance to the CCCAA Softball Super Regional where they will take on familiar foe, #5 San Joaquin Delta College. These two conference opponents played three times during the regular season. The first game went to the Mustangs with a 1-0 victory in Stockton. The second and third games were a doubleheader in Folsom where the Falcons won the first game 3-2, and the Mustangs won the second game 7-3. The series will be hosted by San Joaquin Delta College at A.A. Stagg High School on Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th.
