Tennis teams impress at Big 8 Tournament

The FLC men's and women's tennis teams made a lasting impression over the weekend at the Big 8 Conference Tournament in Santa Rosa.  As the tournament proceeded through the rounds, the Falcons were seemingly represented everywhere.  The women had three singles players advance to the quarterfinals (Hannah Crookham, Sophie Taber, and Anjelica Frank) and two doubles teams qualify for the semifinals (Crookham/Taber and Arielle/Anjelica Frank).  Crookham lost in the semifinals in singles, but she and Taber played all the way to the finals in doubles before losing a heartbreaking third-set tie-breaker.  On the men's side, Sean Alves advanced to the semifinals in singles, and Max Hennessey and Shawn Morgan made it to the Consolation Finals against each other, with Morgan winning.  Alves and doubles partner Kevin Conley reached the quarterfinals before elimination, and Morgan/Hennessey played through the back draw to reach the consolation semifinals.

After the smoke had cleared, the Falcons determined that they will have nine tennis players representing FLC at the State Championship tournament in Ojai in late April.  For the men, Sean Alves and Shawn Morgan will compete in singles, and Alves and Conley qualified in doubles.  On the women's side, the Falcons will be represented in singles by Hannah Crookham, Sophie Taber, and Anjelica Frank.  FLC will be well represented in doubles as all three Falcons pairs qualified: Crookham/Taber, Frank/Frank, and Michelle Doyle/Reener Balingit.
