Falcons erupt for three goals in six minutes to blow open close game

The Folsom Lake men's soccer team entered Tuesday's match having scored just four total goals in their last three matches.  In fact, the Falcons were averaging 1.41 goals per match for the entire 2022 season, and had scored two or more goals in a match just four times.  Interestingly, their record in those four matches was 3-0-1.  On Tuesday, the Falcons broke open a close game with three goals in a span of just six minutes as they defeated visiting Canada College, 4-0.  The Falcons scored midway though the first half with a Ryan Brannigan goal, assisted by Kyle Reilly.  But despite that goal, the teams appeared evenly matched and it appeared this would be a barn-burner until the final whistle.  But in the 79th minute, sophomore Nathan Gosal started a wild rally with a goal to make it 2-0.  Three minutes later Kyle Reilly scored to make it 3-0, then before the cheering had stopped he added another for an insurmountable 4-0 lead.  It was a wild and raucous six minute stretch that seemed to lift a heavy load off the Falcons.

The Falcons improved to 4-0-1 when scoring two or more goals, and overall are now 4-5-4.  They'll host Merced (10-3-1) on Friday evening at 5:30 at Falcon Stadium.
