Bio

Bill Benford, a former lead assistant coach at American River College and successful high school coach at Christian Brothers, is entering his third year as the head coach of men's basketball at Folsom Lake College.   Benford owns 18 years of experience as a basketball coach, including eight as a head coach at the high school level (2003-11) and the last six working at the Community College level (2011-17) as an assistant coach at American River College.  In his six years at ARC, the Beavers elevated their level of play and participated in the post season.  Primary responsibilities included on-court coaching, working with the perimeter players, player development, recruiting and scouting.  He was also involved with the program's off-season strength and conditioning program.

Before joining ARC's program as an assistant coach, Benford spent three years as the Varsity boys head coach at Christian Brothers High School (2008-11).  While at Christian Brothers, Benford's team competed for a section championship in his first season and made it to the post season each of the three years that he was at the head of the program.  Benford's teams were known for their defensive intensity and offensive execution.
 
Coach Benford played two years at American River College and was a contributor that saw time off the bench as a freshman and was part of a team that made it to the playoffs that year.  During his sophomore year, he was the starting point guard and helped lead his team to a conference championship in the Bay Valley Conference with a 13-1 record and a 23-8 overall record and a birth in the playoffs.
 
Benford completed a Bachelor of Science in Management degree from University of Phoenix and has also added a Master of Arts in Kinesiology degree from Fresno Pacific University.  He currently resides in Sacramento with his wife Holly and their two sons Elijah and Isaiah, and daughter Makalia.
