Falcons Secure Share of Big 8 Conference Title

Folsom - The Folsom Lake College Falcons completed their regular season with a significant 13-6 win over the Diablo Valley College Vikings. This victory secured the Falcons a share of the 2024 Big 8 Conference title alongside San Joaquin Delta College.

The Falcons began the game strong, dominating in the first inning by scoring six runs. They continued to control the game throughout, adding points in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th innings. Key performances included standout players such as Darryl Dilworth, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs, and Nate Vargas, who hit a home run in the second inning.

The Falcons' pitching staff also played a critical role in the win. Starting pitcher Ryan Oakes delivered a solid performance, allowing just two earned runs over five innings while striking out four batters. Relievers Jake McKowen, Collin Huston, and Max Debiec combined to limit the Vikings' offense in the final innings.

Despite a late push from the Vikings in the eighth inning, the Falcons maintained their lead and secured the victory. The win pushed the Falcons' overall record to 26-14, with a 17-7 record in the conference.

With their regular season behind them, the Falcons now prepare for the 3C2A Baseball State Championship. Folsom Lake College, seeded #10 in Northern California, will host #15 seed Solano College in a best-of-three series starting on May 3rd. The Falcons aim to carry their momentum from the regular season into the 3C2A regionals for a strong postseason showing.
