Falcons Edge Out Diablo Valley College in Nail-Biter

Pleasant Hill - Folsom Lake secured a narrow 5-4 victory against the Diablo Valley College Vikings in the second game of their three-game series, continuing their winning streak after the first game's impressive 15-3 triumph. The victory maintained FLC's strong standing in the Big 8 Conference.

The game started slowly, with both teams scoreless until the fourth inning when Folsom Lake's Tyler Allen hit a two-run single to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. However, Diablo Valley quickly tied the game at 2-2 in the same inning, capitalizing on an error.

The Falcons regained the lead in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly from Nate Vargas, allowing Darryl Dilworth to score. In the sixth inning, Folsom Lake extended their lead to 4-2 when Allen hit a double, scoring Logan Pruski. Shortly after, a sacrifice fly from Dilworth brought Allen home, making it 5-2.

Diablo Valley mounted a late-game comeback, narrowing the gap to 5-4 with runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Despite the late scare, Folsom Lake held on to secure the win.

The Falcons' pitchers played a crucial role in the victory. Andy Uharriet earned the win with seven strong innings, allowing only two unearned runs and striking out three. Kyle Bender and Nate Brouse pitched an inning each to close out the game.

The victory brings Folsom Lake College's Big 8 Conference record to 16-7, tying them for second place with Modesto Junior College. With a win in their upcoming final regular season game, the Falcons have the opportunity to tie for first place in the conference and claim a share of the 2024 Big 8 Conference title. Tune in for the final game on Friday, April 26th at 1:00 pm to see if the Falcons can clinch the championship.
