Falcons Reign over Monarchs in 3-game Sweep

Folsom, CA – The Falcons (7-1) returned home for a 3-game set against LA Valley College, Monarchs (4-6) this week and continued to demonstrate their impressive offensive ability by adding 40 runs on 49 hits during the 3-game stretch.

Game 1

Starting for the Falcons on Thursday evening, and earning the win was sophomore, right-hander, Gavin Ochoa, who faced 25 batters and struck out 4, while allowing two runs in 5.1 innings. Sophomore, first baseman, JT Waldon continued his remarkable start to the season by going 3-for-5 with three hits (1 HR), and two RBI. Jacob Elias added one hit on one at bat, with 3 RBI. The Falcons scored 9 runs on 13 hits and had one defensive error while the Monarchs scored three runs on 7 hits and had two defensive errors. The final score for the first game of the 3-game series was 9-3.

 

Game 2

The Falcons increased their offensive production for game two by scoring 12 runs on 16 hits while the Monarchs were able to score 4 runs on 7 hits. After a tough start, on the mound, the Falcons leaned on their bullpen and used five pitchers in total (Dylan Warren, Jack Bolton, Riley Haughtby, Ryan Oakes, Carson Szeder). Freshmen, left-handed pitcher, Jack Bolton faced the majority of Monarch batters (21) and recorded three strikeouts while allowing four hits and one run. Offensively, the Falcons recoded home runs by JT Waldon, Drake Digiorno, and Wyatt Reginatto. Reginatto also contributed four RBI on the night.

 

Game 3

The final game of the season proved to be a one-sided affair as the Falcons defeated the monarchs 19-2. In a game where 9 total pitching changes were made between the two teams, sophomore, right-hander, Andrew Neil, earned the win for the Falcons by facing 18 batters in 5 innings of work. During these five innings, Neil stuck out 4 batters while giving up three hits and two runs. Saturday's offensive explosion featured five Falcons recording a multi-RBI game (Chris Catalano (3), Logan Sutter (3), Nate Vargas (2), Cameron Saso (2), Oscar Navarez (3)); and six Falcons recording multiple runs (Drake Digiorno (3), JT Waldon (2), Logan Sutter (3), Nate Vargas (4), Wyatt Reginatto (2), Cameron Saso (3)).
