Hoping to salvage one game of their series against Big 8 leader Delta College, the Falcons found themselves in a tight contest on Saturday afternoon until the Mustangs erupted for 14 runs in the seventh inning to blow open the game, 18-4, in Stockton. The Falcons entered the seventh inning down 4-2 and within striking distance of one of the state's best teams. After the Mustangs manufactured a run (walk, stolen base, single) to go ahead 5-2, the Falcons got the second out of the inning on a strikeout and it looked like that would be all the damage. But the Mustangs went on a two-out rampage that included 8 hits (one double & one triple), five walks, two stolen bases, and a Falcon fielding error to tally 13 more runs, all with two outs. Ouch.
The Falcons next face Sierra for three games this week; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with possibly two games at Falcon Field.
