Falcons win at home over Modesto, 3-1
The Folsom Lake women's volleyball team defended the home court on Friday night in an important match against Modesto, winning 25-18, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21. After winning the third set and leading 2-1, the fourth set started horribly for the Falcons and it appeared they were headed to a fifth set. They immediately fell behind 8-1, then rallied a bit before falling behind 16-10. From there, however, they went on a run and won the set and the match going away.
Sophomore Mikayla Ide had a game-high 13 kills, just one ahead of teammates Taylar Schafer and Abby Seabury with 12 each. Schafer had a run of four straight kills without a miss during a five-point run and also had 11 digs in the match. Defensive specialist Maria Rivera once again led the team with 19 digs and 3 service aces.
The victory improved the Falcons' record to 3-1 in the Big 8 Conference and was an important one with Big 8 heavies American River (4-0) and Sierra looming on this week's schedule for Wednesday and Friday.
