The San Joaquin Delta College volleyball team showed why they are currently ranked number three in California with a 3-set sweep of the Falcons on Friday night in the Big 8 Conference opener for both teams. The Mustangs were led by their outstanding freshman hitter Kiyah Irby, who had 12 kills, as they won 25-15, 25-20, 25-14.
For the Falcons, defensive specialist Maria Rivera once again turned in a remarkable performance with 35 digs. Freshman Olivia Rush accounted for 6 blocks to go with her 3 kills, and Mackenzie Natusch and Mikayla Ide each had 7 kills. The Falcons will travel to Pleasant Hill on Wednesday to face Diablo Valley at 6:30 pm.
