Falcons fall to Delta in 3 sets

The resurgent Falcon volleyball team, fresh off a 3-set sweep of Santa Rosa last Friday, played host to Big 8 #3 and NorCal #9 Delta College on Wednesday night and gave the Mustangs a genuine scare.   Although the Falcons lost the match 3-1, they were leading late in the 4th set (after having won set #3) and had the Mustangs on their heels.  But Delta righted the ship and the Mustangs pulled ahead to win the set and the match, 25-20.  Regardless, the obvious improvements shown by the Falcons, especially on defense, were a testament to the hard work they've put in over the last part of the season.

Prior to the match - the Falcons' final home game of 2021 - head coach Molly Hanrahan had a Sophomore Recognition ceremony for her 4 sophomores who will be moving on.  Katy Kasparian, Raina Parfenova, Dharma Jensen, and Jessica Baker were all honored for their commitment and contributions to the Falcon volleyball program.

The Falcons will close out their Big 8 schedule on Friday night at American River (6:30 pm).  They'll have to await the results of of next Thursday's NorCal seeding meeting to learn if their season will continue into the playoffs; they'll need a loss or two by some teams in front of them and perhaps a bit of luck for that to happen.
