The FLC volleyball team provided the lone bright spot of the weekend for Falcon Athletics with their 5-set upset win over Delta (previously tied for first in the Big 8 and ranked #5 in California), 25-18, 5-25, 17-25, 25-23, 15-11. The Mustangs had earlier swept the Falcons in three sets back on October 2. Despite the pitiful showing in the second set (5-25), the Falcons found a way to eek out a win in the fourth set, sending it to a deciding fifth. The result could have a significant impact on the chase for the Big 8 title with Delta now falling ½ game behind leader American River. Both teams must face Sierra as well as each other, so the title is still up for grabs. The Falcons, at 8-4, are on the outside looking in and will have to settle for fourth or possibly third. They will host Cosumnes River on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm.
