Falcons go 5 sets before defeating Modesto
In a match that turned out to be much closer than it should have been, the Falcons eventually prevailed with a 5-set victory over Modesto at Falcon Gym on Friday night, 28-26, 19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12. With two starters being used sparingly (or not at all) due to nagging injuries, the Falcons were out of sync while the Pirates were motivated to pull off the upset. The Falcons relied heavily on setters Mae Faraimo and Taylor Coate, who recorded 25 and 11 assists respectively. Deonna Robinson excelled in the backcourt with 33 digs and also had 5 service aces, while Valerie Hutton contributed 6 kills and 4 solo blocks at the net.
With the win, the Falcons improved to 2-1 in Big 8 play.
