Women's Tennis Defeats Chabot in Season Opener

After being rained out of their scheduled season-opening match last Friday, the Folsom Lake College women's tennis team spent three-plus hours on Tuesday drying their courts with squeegees, brooms, and leaf blowers in preparation for their second attempt at playing a match.  The hard work paid off as they defeated Chabot College, 5-4.  Playing in temperatures better suited for snow sports, the Falcons won on the strength of their number one singles and doubles, along with some exciting mid-level singles that clinched the win.  The Falcons took two of three doubles matches and split the six singles matches.

Freshman Hannah Crookham won in both singles and doubles (paired with Sophie Taber), as did Anjelica Frank and Ariel Frank.  The difference-maker turned out to be the number three singles match, Anjelica Frank outlasted her opponent, 7-6, 7-5.  The victory came late in the evening with the temperature dropping, but FLC head coach Craig Perez was not feeling the cold at that point.
