Another win for Falcon women

Another win for Falcon women

After a sluggish start on Tuesday afternoon, the FLC women's soccer team found their mojo and pulled away to a 3-1 win over Modesto at Falcon Stadium.  Freshman forward Corrine Christmann finally got the Falcons on the board in the 38th minute with her first of two goals – the second came in the second half of play – when she got the Pirate goalkeeper to commit too far out and easily pushed the ball into the net.  The Pirates had no answer for freshman Emma Thompson, who recorded two assists – one to Christmann and the other to Mikayla Smith – as she continually beat her defender before centering to her awaiting teammates in front of the goal.  Smith headed in one of those centering passes in the 66th minute for the Falcons' final tally.

The Falcons improved their overall record to 15-4-1 and are 11-4 with one match remaining in Big 8 play.  They'll host Diablo Valley on Friday afternoon, then await the playoff seeding meeting next week to learn their first round playoff opponent for Saturday November 17.
