Women's Soccer Defeats Mendocino

Ukiah is a long 3-1/2 hour bus ride from Folsom, but the return trip home probably felt much shorter last night as the Folsom Lake women's soccer team basked in the glow of a tough 3-0 win over gritty Bay Valley Conference rival Mendocino.  The Falcons' defense, led by sophomore center back Kace Bailey, allowed the Eagles just four shots in the entire game, none of which made it past Falcon freshman goalkeeper Aubrey Hall.  Goals by Karina Torres and Sami Thomas gave the Falcons a 2-0 halftime lead.  Torres added another second-half goal while the defense earned their fourth shutout in a row.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 7-0-1  at the halfway point in the BVC schedule.  The women begin round 2 of conference play on Friday when they travel to Napa for a 4:00 pm match against the Storm.
