Women's Soccer Suffers Tough 1-0 Loss

The FLC women's soccer team took on a fast and athletic Delta College team on Friday night at UOP that resulted in a 1-0 loss for the Falcons.  The two teams were evenly matched, as evidenced by the 0-0 score at halftime.  Early in the second half, the Falcons had their best scoring chances as they came out strong and aggressive.  Freshman Hannah O'Donnell  got behind her defender several times, one of which resulted in a shot that just missed the top corner of the goal.  In the 65th minute, the Mustangs capitalized on a broken play and scored the game's only goal on a shot from 12 yards out.  With time running out, the Falcons continued to attack, but Delta's team speed was too much.  "Their ability to recover defensively – thanks to their great speed – was the key to their win," noted head coach Donny Ribaudo.  "Despite the loss, it was a really great game, very even match."  Ribaudo praised the outstanding play of freshman goalkeeper Aubrey Hall, who earned "Player of the Game" honors with her numerous saves and back-line organization.  The Falcons' overall record slipped to 3-1-1 with the loss.
