Saturday's matchup with host Fresno City was a low-scoring, defensive battle that came down to the final possession with the Falcons winning, 41-40. The Falcons trailed by a point with 38 seconds to play, but got a needed stop and the rebound to give themselves a final chance. After a timeout with 4 seconds to play, they worked a perfect inbounds play that resulted in a foul – the only way to prevent Shay Boley from scoring the winning layup – that sent Boley to the free throw line with a chance to win the game. Boley calmly sank both shots to send the Falcons home as winners.
The Falcons will play just one more non-conference game – this Friday night against state-ranked #12 Butte College at FLC – before opening Big 8 Conference play against Santa Rosa next week.
